To the east of Cornwall the rolling landscape of Devon rears
up and disappears into the sullen granite mass of Dartmoor,
an almost circular expanse of bog, heather and bracken,
punctuated by granite tors and incised by the rivers that
radiate from its centre. Its 368 square miles of moorland
contain some of England's finest wilderness. These hills
are notoriously difficult to navigate between, especially in bad
weather. The table below is a non-exhausted list of Dartmoor's
tors, hills and other key features that may be used as
waypoints for navigation purposes. Do not rely solely on GPS for
navigation and always carry a map and compass. |
